Traveling with Pets

Are you thinking about traveling with your four-legged furry family member? If you are, your pet must be at least eight weeks old to fly. Also, book early; most airlines only allow one or two animals on each flight. It is also important to have a current health certificate from your vet. Make sure to properly identify your pet and purchase a comfortable carrier for your pets for the long journey.

AurTravel has a few different ways your pet can travel in the air:

Checked Baggage Cabin Pets traveling in the cabin must fly with an adult passenger and travel in an airline compliant carrier stowed under the seat.

Checked Baggage Cargo Pets traveling with a passenger that are not permitted in the cabin can be transported as checked baggage in the cargo hold.

Manifest Cargo Unaccompanied or very large pets will travel as manifest cargo in the hold.

Service/Comfort Animals They can travel in the cabin with a disabled passenger on many airlines.

When traveling with your pet keep in mind extreme weather conditions. If traveling to or from a destination where temperatures are below 20F or above 95F, your pet will not be allowed to travel in the cargo area.

Each airline has different pet policies including different fees. Below are a few links to the major airlines to make sure you have all the information you need to make your pets trip a happy one.
