Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been celebrating the holiday since 1924 in the streets of Manhattan. If you plan on attending the parade, arriving at 6am along the parade route will assure that you get a great viewing spot of the 3-hour-long parade. Parking in New York City is hard to come by and can be expensive. That being said, public transit may be the best option when traveling to the parade. The best part is you get to enjoy the parade festivities for free! Getting to watch the parade balloons inflate the day before is an additional bonus that the kids would enjoy! This event is great for families to attend, as it is close to the American Museum of Natural History. This museum features a ton of unique exhibits that will enlighten the way you see science. Be sure to arrive early, as the crowds grow larger into the evening.

Shopping: One of the Best Things to do in NYC

If you love shopping, visiting stores on Black Friday is probably a yearly tradition for you. Shopping in New York is definitely a breed of its own. New York City is a perfect location to shop regardless of whether you are shopping on a budget or have the coin to spend. Department stores like Express, Macy’s, H&M, and Urban Outfitters are some of the most popular stores that won’t break the bank. If you prefer a more luxurious shopping experience, New York City offers stores such as Burberry, Saint Laurent, Bergdorf Goodman, and Barneys New York. Be sure to check out Madison Avenue from East 57 to East 86 Street, home of the most luxurious district in America!

Skating in New York City is the perfect way to get immersed into the winter wonderland that the city magically turns into each year. For instance, ice skating at the Winter Village in Bryant Park is a great way to celebrate the holiday season. Enjoy one of New York City’s finest skating rinks with a killer view for free! If you don’t have skates of your own, no worries, skate rentals will be available. If you want to fully immerse yourself into the holiday spirit, make sure you visit the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in the plaza and the Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular.
