When you think of the Caribbean, you most likely start thinking of Jamaica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, or Puerto Rico. You might be picturing white sandy beaches, rolling waves, warm weather, and a calming environment. Above all, the calming environment you wish to explore can be found on a lesser-known Caribbean island, while equally beautiful and relaxing and perfect for your next vacation. AurTravel’s agents can assist with booking a trip to a great island that is less-crowded and perfect for your vacation!

Nevis: Full of Foliage

Nevis is the sister-island of St. Kitts, and is only 36 square miles in total. The Nevis Peak is a volcano that offers hikers a great trek, as well as some gorgeous views of the ocean that surrounds the petite island. The island is home to beautiful foliage, which can also be appreciated at the Botanical Gardens of Nevis. History lovers can explore the childhood home and birthplace of founding father Alexander Hamilton. The home is on the same property as the Museum of Nevis History. Nevis’ clear water and blue skies are great for a relaxing vacation, with few crowds on the island.

St. Croix: A Tiny Treasure

St. Croix is another lesser-traveled island in the Caribbean. The island is only 22.7 miles long and 8 miles across at its widest point. St. Croix is an island of the U.S. Virgin Islands and is booming with activities. There are many museums and historic sites, as well as amazing beaches and golf courses. Families can partake in horseback riding, sailing, kayaking, or diving among sunken ships. The beaches feature white sand and there are lush rain forests surrounding the island.

Montserrat: Small Crowds and All Things Nature

Montserrat is a great option for those wishing to get away from big crowds. This island is mountainous and is a British Overseas Territory. The north side of the island is great for exploring. Featuring black sand, coral reefs, cliffs, and caves, it is perfect for the whole family. The Montserrat Volcano Observatory is a great place to get a great view of the Soufriere Hills Volcano. Similarly, for those wishing to get close to nature, there is a bat cave as well as a botanical and herbal garden.

Anguilla: Low-Key Atmosphere and Friendly

If you want to get away from the typical tourist hot-spot, Anguilla is a great option. The clear waters and low-key atmosphere are sure to please travelers. The island vibe here is relaxed and friendly. Another perk of the island: it is a very romantic destination! Anguilla is perfect for newlyweds or couples wishing to celebrate their love. Anguilla is a small island, only about 16 miles long. However, it is surrounded by many smaller islands perfect for a day trip excursion.

Visiting the Caribbean can be a fun and exciting destination for your family vacation, honeymoon, or destination beach wedding. A lesser-traveled island makes for a more intimate setting, and a relaxed and calmer atmosphere, rather than the bustle of tourism and spring breakers. Our agents at AurTravel can assist you with planning your trip to a lesser-traveled island; you won’t want to miss out on all the things smaller islands have to offer!
